Kerning - This term is used in graphic design for the spacing between letters and/or words. #Kerning

Sometimes, some letters and even words cause a bigger or smaller space between then. In some cases you may have to adjust that spacing. When you do the adjustment on that spacing you are kerning the letters or words.

Some fonts are mono spaced fonts, meaning one they take up the same width. That can cause gaps.

Kerning helps to make it easier to read and helps with the design composition.
