World Pinhole Photography Day, also known as WPPD, is an international event that celebrates the art of pinhole photography.

Pinhole photography is a technique that has been around for centuries. It involves the use of a simple, light-proof box or camera obscura with a tiny pinhole aperture instead of a lens. The pinhole allows light to enter the camera and create an image on light-sensitive paper or film inside.

What makes pinhole photography so fascinating is the unique and unpredictable images that it produces. Unlike traditional photography, pinhole photography creates images that are often soft, dreamlike, and full of atmosphere. The long exposure times required by pinhole cameras can also create stunning visual effects, such as blurring and streaking.

World Pinhole Photography Day was first established in 2001 by a group of pinhole photography enthusiasts in New Mexico, USA. Since then, the event has grown in popularity and has become a global celebration of pinhole photography.

To participate in World Pinhole Photography Day, all you need is a pinhole camera and a roll of film or some light-sensitive paper. You can make your own pinhole camera using a cardboard box, a tin can, or even a potato! Alternatively, there are many online tutorials and resources available that can guide you through the process of building your own pinhole camera.

Once you have your camera, simply take a photograph on the last Sunday in April and submit it to the WPPD website. The website features an online gallery where you can share your work with other pinhole photography enthusiasts from around the world. You can also use social media to share your images and connect with other pinhole photographers using the hashtag #WPPD.

World Pinhole Photography Day is a wonderful opportunity to explore the unique and creative world of pinhole photography. It’s a chance to experiment with this fascinating and unpredictable technique and to connect with other pinhole enthusiasts from around the world. Whether you’re an experienced photographer or a complete beginner, WPPD is a fantastic event that is well worth participating in.

Sure, here are the dates for the next 5 World Pinhole Photography Days:
